BalletBoyz (United Kingdom)

The arrival of the BalletBoyz collective in the dance world in 2001 unleashed a true revolution. Their practice of specifically spotlighting male dancers has attracted lots of attention, both from seasoned dance lovers and from shrieking teenage girls. In recent years, the collective has grown into one of the most original, idiosyncratic and innovative forces in modern dance.

BalletBoyz appeared previously at the Holland Dance Festival in 2005, with star dancer Sylvie Guillem. Although the founders of the collective, former successful Royal Ballet dancers Michael Nunn and William Trevit no longer perform themselves, they remain the creative force behind the company. BalletBoyz now comprises eight talented young dancers, each coming from a different dance background. Despite their boy-band image, the dancers surprise their audiences time and time again with their spectacular performances.
