Peeping Tom (Belgium) - 32, rue Vandenbranden
With a huge round cyclorama, two real caravans and a stage full of snow 32 rue VandenBranden promises an extraordinary image. The Dutch critic Francine van der Wiel wrote in NRC Handelsblad: "32 Rue VandenBranden makes you shiver and wonder, and fills you with compassion."
Marijcke saw the show in Amsterdam and found it rather disappointing. The Alain Platel style was obvious, and there were some funny moments and stunning images. Sure. But the piece as a whole, as a composition, wasn’t as strong as it could have been.
