Omar Rajeh / Maqamat Dance Theatre (Lebanon) - Beytna

In the performance Beytna the invitation to eat together comes from choreographer Omar Rajeh, and his home is the grand hall of Theater Bellevue. Dance and theater are already good ways to smell each other's cultures, but for Rajeh this does not go far enough. And so he asked his mother to bring her biggest pots and pans into the theater, inviting six international friends and the public to the table. Rajeh and his mother embody the Lebanese culture, his colleague choreographer Hiroaki Umeda the Japanese, Anani Sanouvi the one from Togo, West Africa and Koen Augustijnen (Les Ballets C de la B) the Flemish. Three brothers playing the lute, the famous Le Trio Joubran, fill the scene with traditional Palestinian music.
