Compagnie Nacera Belaza (Algeria) - La Nuit & Les Oiseaux
In 2010 Belaza showed the duet Le Cri during Julidans, in which she overthrew traditional Algerian music movements against Maria Callas, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse. French critics declared this work 'surprise of the year’. With Les Oiseaux the Belaza sisters show their latest duet. Belaza also performs La Nuit, a solo on an endlessly repeated song phrase that rises in tone and strength, during which she constantly revolvs in blinding backlight. "You believe your own eyes no more in the long run." wrote De Morgen.
