Akram Khan Company (United Kingdom) - XENOS

XENOS means 'stranger'. This moving performance is about the colonial soldiers in the First World War. More than 4 million non-western men from, among others, India fought in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. They fought and died miles from their homeland. Their stories are rarely told. Khan interweaves dance from two cultures, classical Indian kathak and contemporary dance. The texts were written by the Canadian author Jordan Tannahill. Five excellent musicians mix music traditions from around the world live on stage.
