Compagnie Nacera Belaza (Algeria)
Born in Algeria Nacera Belaza has lived in France since she was five years, where she studied literature before to devoting herself to dance. In her work she walks the fine line between pleasure and spirituality, while she tries to keep her art in line with her Muslim faith and her sober lifestyle. The performances she creates since 1989, often with her sister Dalila, are minimal, sensual and very concentrated. The dancers use repetition and variation to create a trance-like experience for the audience.
