Hofesh Schechter Company (Israel)

"Hofesh Shechter was born in Jerusalem and studied at the Jerusalem Academy for Dance and Music, and after graduating moved to Tel Aviv to join the world famous Batsheva Dance Company. He worked with their own choreographer Ohad Naharin, but also with other important dance creators like Wim Vandekeybus, Paul Selwyn-Norton, Tero Saarinen and Inbal Pinto.
After his years in Tel Aviv Schechter started to study drums and percussion in Paris, at the same time experimenting with his own music and taking part in various dance projects throughout Europe.
In 2002 Hofesh left for the UK to join the Jasmin Vardimon Dance Company. His debut as a choreographer was a piece called "Fragments", on his own music, that won a prize in the Diaghilev Competition of Choreographic Art."
