Robyn Orlin (South Africa) - And so you see...our honourable blue sky and ever enduring sun...can only be consumed slice by slice
In her performance And so you see ... our honorable blue sky and ever enduring sun ... can only be consumed slice by slice ... Robyn Orlin challenges the history and traditions of her country. Orlin: "Why can one not be gay and conservative at the same time? (...) Why can one not be a world citizen and at the same time South African? "The collaboration between her and Khoza, a young gay performer from Soweto, produces theatrical fireworks. The sharp expression that Khoza gives to Orlins theme with his body, the seven deadly sins related to gender discrimination and homophobia in contemporary South Africa, comes straight from his heart. Shameless, grotesque, humorous, loving and at times charming, he carries between greed, pride, lust, envy, voracity, anger and laziness. Orlin herself calls her show a requiem to humanity.
