Louise Lecavalier (Canada) - Battleground
With Battleground, Lecavalier explores again the boundaries of the physically possible. The duet, which she performs together with Robert Abudo, is loosely inspired by two characters from The Knight who did not exist (1959) by Italo Calvino, the non-existent knight and his squire. The stage is an abstracted arena, a stand-alone world where thousands of battles, fleeting and short or extreme and protracted, are fought out. With raw, animal-like dance, fantasy and humor, Lecavalier tells a story about ideals and disappointments.
