Granhøj Dans (Denmark) - Dance me to the end on/off Love
The Julidans site: "Dance Me to the End On / Off Love is a visual dance concert with ten live musicians. The Danish choreographer Palle Granhøj was inspired by the touching and melancholic music of Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. The work breathes, just like the music, a universal desire. It is the eternal love of movement that can never be established, that can never be fulfilled, but that Granhøj is constantly looking for. Magic, subtle and expressive."
The Julidans show in Paradiso was a great success. It's more than dance performance, with many surprising images. And the music of Leonard Cohen is played and sung live. Sometimes with melancholy and devotion, but just as easily in a vicious parody. And a Lorca song full of Spanish passion.
The lighting is relatively simple, and comes partially from the candles and overhead projector that the group brings with them. In large venues sound reinforcement can be necessary, advice and materials for this from the theatre are most welcome.
