One of the greatest Renaissance composers, Orlando di Lasso touches on the essence of Peter's grief and struggle in his 50-minute madrigal cycle Lagrime di San Pietro.
Di Lasso´s Tranen van Petrus is a semi-staged performance of this musical masterpiece, co-directed by Tido Visser and Nanine Linning. While Peter is separated from the rest of his world, singers and dancers become witnesses of Peter's sorrow. Poetic, confrontational and topical. What ideal persists in the inner struggle of the naturally weak and fearful man?
