In this show by Cirkus Cirkör, seven female circus artists challenge traditional structures and hierarchies. Epifónima, meaning cry or cry in Greek, is inspired by both contemporary and historical female fighters.

Everything is changeable, even when it feels as if history is repeating itself. Claim your space, use all your options. Even with adversity you go forward. The seven top acrobats of the renowned Cirkus Cirkör from Sweden shout it from the roofs, or in this case from the track. Not so much with words but with blood-curdling acts. Their red hands testify to spine.

The opening performance of Circusstad Festival 2019, Epifónima, compares radically with the traditional hierarchies. Both the cast and the creative team consist solely of women. Even the two riggers, as aerial work platforms responsible for safety, are ladies, including the Dutch Saar Rombout.
