With his new album 'Artesano' - a pun between 'skill' and 'healthy art' - he delves deeply into the essence of the ancient flamenco art and brings it into the 21st century.
Poveda is one of those children of Andalusian immigrants in Barcelona that shared the love of their parents for the heritage through old records and nostalgia. Since he won the prestigious Lampara Minera price of the festival of La Unión in 1993, the Catalan singer pulls like a whirlwind through the current flamenco landscape. The 'Ciclón Poveda' blew away the audience at the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam in 2008 during the closing gala of the third biennial. In this Intermezzo he presents Artesano together with his favorite dancer La Lupi who this makes her Dutch debut.
