El Pele & Farruquito (Spain) - Peleando y punto
El Pele is the classic gypsy voice, intuitive and unpolished, sometimes so personal that it hurts. With unprecedented ease and mastery and a peerless timing he moves through all palos (styles) of flamenco, both serious and joyful songs. With his raw lamento he once overwhelmed Prince and David Bowie, who invited him for a guest appearance on his show. In the 80s his voice conquered the world with guitarist Vicente Amigo, with whom he made the album 'Canto'. His voice breaks, rips apart, is timeless. It is the voice that evokes the words of the poet Federico García Lorca: The Cante Jondo is a song without scenery, and therefore introverted, and terrible, amid the darkness, she shoots her golden arrows stuck into our heart. '
Farruquito - Juan Manuel Fernández Montoya
Farruquito was born in 1982 in a gypsy family where the dance, as he says it was 'daily bread'. Destined to become a great dancer he was introduced by his grandfather Farruco into the secrets of the family tradition. ‘Try to fly, but do not move', the patriarch of the dynasty taught small Farruquito who had Broadway debut when he was five year old, with grandpa in the show ‘Flamenco Puro’ and with whom he enchanted everyone in the film Flamenco by Carlos Saura. Since then, he successfully brings the family legacy over the world. Farruquito represents a flamenco close to the roots, where a simple movement expresses the maximum with tremendous virtuosity. Flamenco as a ritual, a religion. Without frills or dramaturgy. Wherever Farruquito dances, the hall becomes electrically charged. He leaves no one untouched. Seeing Farruquito means to experience flamenco in the purest sense of the word.
