Muziektheater Transparant (Belgium) - Ruhe
Ruhe is a special and intense experience. During the 1960s, the Dutch artists Armando and Hans Sleutelaar carried out a number of interviews with people who were members of the SS during the Second World War. They transcribed the tapes and removed the questions, and the result is a number of monologues by people who try to explain what and how they thought and felt back then and why their lives took this particular turn.
Technically it isn't a complicated show that can be performed on a stage, or in any other location, as long as there are some rigging points for the light. 200 historical chairs are the set and the tribune at the same time: the singers sit in the audience. Ruhe has been performed in theatres and churches in The Netherlands between 2007 and 2010.
