Erna Ómarsdóttir (Iceland) - Teach Us To Outgrow Our Madness
The Julidans site:
"In Teach Us to Outgrow Our Madness the Icelandic choreographer Erna Ómarsdóttir explores the relationships between women who intensely live together. Nuns, witches, friends. She imagines rivalry, gossip, cruelty, but also the gentleness and unconditional love between them.
Ómarsdóttir's style - partly developed with Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker and Jan Fabre - is conjuring. She combines dance, live music and the power of storytelling to a gruesome and at the same time humorous and liberating experience. "
The performance received mixed reactions from dance in July. Some found it extremely powerful, even impressive, others found it hysterical stuff. Judge for yourself if you have the opportunity.
