The Loose Collective (Austria) - The Old Testament According to the Loose Collective
In their new work, the Austria-based international group of dancers, choreographers and musicians deals with a text that is an outstanding example of human creativity and a major archive of mankind’s ambition and frustration: The Old Testament. With their own means of contemporary performance, ranging from text-sampling and neo-baroque choir to beat-boxing and diaspora-postpunk, the collective proposes a stage-translation of the enormous body of text in its entirety and creates an artistic project with a consciously utopian dimension.
A co-production of Tanzquartier Wien, Kunstverein Archipelago Wien and Performanceinitiative 22 Graz; grant-aided by the cultural departement of the city of Vienna, Stadt Graz Kultur, Kultur Land Steiermark and bmu:kk; in cooperation with D.ID/Dance Identity Burgenland and supported by Dance Ireland/Dublin, Dansenshus/Stockholm, Dansescenen/Copenhagen and Co-Festival and Kino Siska/Ljubljana through Modul-dance.
