Russel Maliphant (United Kingdom) - The Rodin Project

Choreographer Russell Maliphant is transforming the stage into a sculpture garden, from object to back jump. Inspired by the work of the sculptor Auguste Rodin he presents the body from every conceivable angle, 360 degrees in a circle. The contemporary dancers from Maliphant’s own company will share the stage with a group of extraordinary breakdancers. Popping, breaking and contemporary dance come together in a stage set that continuously changes its shape.

The Rodin Project is performed to a newly commissioned score by Russian composer Alexander Zekke and made in collaboration with lighting designer Michael Hulls, set designers Es Devlin and Bronia Housman and costume designer Stevie Stewart.
