Bouchra Ouizguen (Morocco) - Ottof
Ottof, busy ants, Bouchra Ouizguen calls the group of older women she has been working with for years. No ordinary dancers, but Aïta's, who traditionally entertain the (male) audiences at weddings with their powerful singing and their physical boldness. Admired, but excluded in daily life, just for that self-conscious attitude. With this close group, Ouizguen investigates the place of the Aïta and, more generally, the woman, in Moroccan society. In 'Ottof' there is a major role for the connecting power of the human voice. But we also see the confrontation of the individual with the judgment of the outside world.
