Andrés Marín (Spain) - Yatra

In Andrés Marín’s latest creation, Yatra, with its world premiere on the V Flamenco Biennial in The Hague, the 'Picasso of Flamenco' researches into the most primitive roots of flamenco in India. Marín does this in alliance with the French-Algerian (hiphop) dancer Kader Attou and the Divana Ensemble from Rajasthan.

Yatra: a journey that unites two bases in the world. Two forms of artistic expression, flamenco and music from the north of India, whose common origins have been frequent sources of dialogue and fruitful exchange. Andrés Marín translates them into movement and expresses with his contemporary approach the interpretation of a contemporary India.

Yatra is about to progress, exploring a shared space. An urban space in a world where India, despite globalization, remains Indian. From London to Paris. Where flamenco renews itself, seeping through a filter of ancient codes. In a completely natural way Kader Attou’s hip hop penetrates this exchange of voices.
