"The wonder boy of contemporary European dance theater", as the Dutch paper Trouw described the Belgian/Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Babel (words) is a show about language and divisions between people. British artist Antony Gormley designed an installation for the dancers. Live music, including a Japanese Kodo drummer, plays a major role. "One of the best pieces of the year." (Die Welt) "Heartbreakingly beautiful." (The Guardian)
Marijcke saw the show in Amsterdam, together with many colleagues, and they agreed: it is one of the most beautiful things we have ever seen. Why? It's bold, it seems the cuff, but drags you along and you realize that the hand of a master composed it.
